Supplemental Health Coverage

In addition to your core medical, dental, and vision benefits, you have access through Cigna to coverage options that are designed to supplement your medical coverage and protect you from unplanned and often costly, complex care.

You have the flexibility to choose which plan(s) will give you peace of mind:

  • Accidental Injury
  • Critical Illness
  • Hospital Indemnity

You pay for your coverage through after-tax payroll deductions. You can use the payments you receive in any way you choose, like paying medical bills, daily living expenses, childcare, and more. You don’t need to enroll in Cigna medical coverage totake advantage of these plans. However, you will have to file a claim yourself if you are not enrolled in a Cigna medical plan. You can learn how to file a claim at myCigna.com, or call 800-754-3207 Monday through Friday, 7 a.m. to 7 p.m.

Accidental Injury coverage can be a financial safety net for when life throws you a curveball like a slip-and-fall or a sports mishap. If you break a bone, sprain an ankle, or need treatment after an accident, this plan can send you a cash benefit to use however you need.

Accidental Injury insurance works alongside your regular health insurance to ease out-of-pocket costs when the unexpected happens. Some examples of  injuries and accident-related expenses include:

  • Ambulance service
  • X-rays, labs, and MRIs
  • Dislocations and fractures
  • Hospitalization and surgery

Critical Illness insurance helps you focus on getting better when you’re diagnosed with something serious, like:

  • Cancer
  • Heart attack
  • Stroke
  • Kidney failure

The plan provides a lump-sum payment that you can use however you want, like paying for rent, groceries, travel for treatment, or even household help while you recover. Your cost for coverage will be determined by who you cover and their age(s). Please see the Dayforce portal for your customized cost per paycheck if you wish to enroll. If you enroll yourself and/or your spouse in Critical Illness coverage, your dependent children will automatically be enrolled at 25% of your coverage level at no extra cost to you.

Costs from a hospital stay can add up fast, even with good medical coverage.

Hospital Indemnity insurance pays a cash benefit if you experience an inpatient hospital stay due to an accident or sickness, including pregnancy. You can use this payment however you want, whether that’s covering childcare costs, transportation, meals, and more.

This gives you one less thing to stress over, so you can concentrate on getting out of the hospital and back home sooner.
